How we got engaged
Wednesday Activity Nights had become something of a tradition in our relationship. The first Wednesday date we had was to a Sonic forty-five minutes away. I was so nervous before that date. I remember emailing my mom calling Tim "either a pretty great guy or a smooth operator". Needless to say, Sonic was a huge success. From there on out, almost every Wednesday we would try a new restaurant or activity in the amazing city that is DC!
Well, June 1, 2011 was our last Wednesday Activity Night in DC. Tim told me that in honor of that he wanted to take me out to a fancy dinner. After work, I went and got a mani/pedi (we were leaving on a cruise that Sunday). When I arrived at his condo, we left as normal and started to drive downtown. We were about two minutes away, when Tim said he forgot something at home. I actually got frustrated with him! I had no idea what was coming until we arrived back at his condo and he told me I needed to come upstairs with him.
The next few minutes were a whirlwind. Tim's roommate, Gray, and his girlfriend, Christine, had set up an elaborate dinner on the rooftop of their building. Flowers, candles, champagne, the works. In the time it had taken me to go get a mani/pedi, Tim had gone to three different restaurants around DC and picked up my favorite appetizer, my favorite entree, and my favorite dessert. Before we sat down, he got on one knee and proposed.
I learned after that the ring had come that day! I like to think that the man just could NOT wait! That Saturday, my wonderful DC roommates threw us a engagement/moving away party. That Sunday, we left on a week-long cruise. And fifteen days after the proposal, we bought a house together!
